The PTA plays an important role at Goshen Lane Elementary.  We make available many services, events and programs.  Examples of these are:

Assist with field trips

Just to name a few:  the Zoo, Kroger Market Place, the State House, the Pumpkin Patch, Blendon Woods, and Velvet Ice Cream.

Assist with special events

Assemblies, Mobile Dentists, Art Auction, Right to Read Week.

Gahanna School Board Meetings

On occasion attend monthly school board meetings.

Author Visit

An author is invited to the school to read his/her book to the kids and autograph books.  This has typically happened every other year.

Book Fairs

Twice a year the PTA hosts a book fair at the school.  Students have the opportunity to “look” one day and “shop” another day.  Parents are also encouraged to come in and shop!  Teachers also have a wish list if you want to purchase and dedicate a book in your child’s name to their class.

Fun day at the end of school

Field Day or Fun Day –a blast for the students and volunteers!  We play outside all day – well deserved after a hard year in school.

Fundraisers

Having multiple fundraisers a year helps us afford all the things we do!

Holiday cookie platters for all the Goshen Lane staff

Let’s face it everyone is busy these days – well how better to thank the staff at the holidays than by making them cookies!

Monthly family events

Movie night, skating party, carnival, dinners together (just to name a few) – we try to get together once a month just to spend time with other families of Goshen.  We try to make it affordable so the entire family can attend and have Fun!

New teacher welcome gift

Just a little something to welcome new teachers and introduce the PTA.

Office helpers

Make copies, sort mail and make deliveries to the classrooms.

Publishing center

Students spend time writing and creating while at school.  The Publishing Center helps turn these creations into an actual book that can be treasured for years to come.  Home and school volunteers needed.

Purchase t-shirts for all new students

A long-standing tradition at Goshen Lane all new students get a Goshen Lane t-shirt at the beginning of the year – throughout the year there are spirit days to show your school pride.

School Supply Store

Weekly the school store visits each classroom with pens, pencils, paper, small snacks and lots of other fun things..

Special equipment purchases

The PTA aids in purchases throughout the year through our fundraising.  We recently bought a new playground for grades 2 – 5.

Talent Show

The kids of Goshen Lane share their special talents with a Talent Show – singing, dancing, acrobats, playing the piano – whatever the talent – the night is a blast!  Held at the auditorium at Middle School West.

Teacher appreciation week

In May we give the teachers a week of special treatment for all the hard work they do.  Last year we make breakfast, wash cars, have the students bring flowers  - just to name a few.

Teacher classroom funds

We know that our teachers invest some of their own personal money in their classroom.  The PTA tries to help defray some of their own cost and by giving them a check for $100 at the beginning of every school year.

Teacher conference meals

The night of teacher and parent conferences teachers don’t get to go home to their families for dinner – so we make them dinner to eat at school between meetings with you.
